Introduction

In this message, I reflect on the open doors our church is experiencing, particularly in Mexico, and how we prepare our hearts and minds during this season leading up to December. We celebrate God’s presence through His Son, Jesus Christ, who came as a servant. I am inspired to pause and examine Psalm 100 as a call to thanksgiving and to understand our mission's context. Through recollections of our experience in Mexico, we understand not only the importance of patience and community but also the empowerment of serving each other in Christ's love.

Main Points

Engaging With Diverse Cultures Sharpens Our

Engaging with diverse cultures sharpens our ministry as we see how different practices of faith can enrich our understanding of God. Our trip to Mexico revealed the slower, more thoughtful pace of gathering and serving, which challenges the often hurried nature of our lives.

  • In Oaxaca, we learned that taking time to enjoy one another’s company enhances our ability to know and love God.
  • By breaking bread together, we reflect on how our church can foster unity and depth in our outreach efforts while celebrating the richness of various cultures.
  • One of the key lessons from our visit is the necessity of slowing down.
  • Our culture promotes rapidity, especially around holidays like Thanksgiving, where we express gratitude just to rush into the next phase of consumerism.

I Urge You To Reflect On

I urge you to reflect on the simplicity of gratitude during the holiday season, to savor moments of thankfulness without rushing away from them. This insight invites us to shift our perspective and embrace a life that intertwines with God’s timing, taking cues from the relational practices we observed in Mexico.

  • I experienced a profound moment with Ricardo, a local baker who demonstrated selflessness and joy.
  • After I misplaced my headphones, he traveled ten hours to return them to me, viewing this act of service as an opportunity for gratitude rather than obligation.
  • This encounter illustrates the profound truth: when we serve others, we cultivate a spirit of thankfulness within ourselves.
  • I encourage you to recognize the ways God calls you to serve, whether through prayer, hospitality, or personal sacrifice, and to trust that your efforts, however small, can create.

Throughout Our Discussion I Recognize The

Throughout our discussion, I recognize the importance of bridging generational gaps in the church. Those of you who have persevered through the ups and downs of faith carry vital wisdom that can guide younger believers. Your commitment to our church community provides a legacy that enriches the body of Christ. As we move forward, it's essential to appreciate and include all generations, fostering relationships that encourage spiritual growth and mentorship. As we reflect on our outreach efforts, we recognize that there are new believers eager for guidance. The joy of witnessing new lives transformed by Christ fuels our mission as a church.

With Every Act Of Service And

With every act of service and discipleship, we reaffirm God’s promise. I call each of you to engage heartily in this mission, whether in prayer or in action, committing to nurturing the next generation of faith. Psalm 100 calls us to recognize the sovereignty of God, "Know that the Lord, He is God." This understanding is foundational to our faith and mission. In our busy lives, I challenge you to find moments of stillness to seek God. When our hearts are settled, we can more clearly perceive His guidance, leading to lives marked by meaningful service and genuine thankfulness. Amid the chaos and turmoil of the world, we can find solace in God’s everlasting truth.

The Promise That He Remains Steadfast

The promise that He remains steadfast encourages us that our hope is not in vain. Embrace the power of stillness to know God, firm in the belief that His plans for us are good. Reflect on how knowing Him transforms your perspective on current events and personal challenges, turning heartaches into thankfulness and service.

Conclusion

In summary, as we gather to celebrate gratitude during this season, let us remember the lessons from our mission in Mexico. Embrace the call to know God deeply, serve with gladness, and live patiently in community. The work of discipleship and outreach is ongoing, driven by His enduring truth and our willingness to respond. May we cultivate thankful hearts that recognize the incredible opportunities God places before us, living boldly in faith and service.
