Introduction

In today's session, I'm excited to dive into some deeply important questions we have from our families about God, the Bible, and our lives. As we start this discussion, we will explore these inquiries together, allowing both kids and adults to engage meaningfully. This collaborative approach enables us all to grow in knowledge and faith as we consider what the Bible says.

Main Points

A Compelling Question We Tackled Is

A compelling question we tackled is, "How old is God?" This question opens the door to an exploration of God's eternal character. Unlike humans, who mark their existence along a timeline, God exists outside of time itself.

  • In Genesis 1:1, we read, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." This indicates that before creation began, God already was, illustrating His pre-existence.
  • When thinking about age, we note that God's existence has no starting point and, therefore, cannot be measured in years.
  • He is described in Scripture as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, signifying His eternal role in the universe.
  • This concept invites us to reflect on the uniqueness of God's being, which sets Him apart from all creation.

Next We Asked Does God Care

Next, we asked, "Does God care about me?" This search for divine care resonates with many of us at different times in our lives. I want to assure you with complete confidence that God cares about each one of us, regardless of our circumstances.

  • The Bible emphasizes humanity's special status within creation, suggesting that we hold unique value to God.
  • He desires to have a relationship with us, as affirmed through the life and sacrifice of Jesus.
  • By entering into our world and offering salvation, God shows the depth of His love and commitment.
  • It's essential to internalize this truth, not only does God see you; He actively seeks a relationship with you.

As We Concluded Our Session We

As we concluded our session, we shifted gears to a fun activity, what I call a "sword drill", where families are invited to engage with the Bible directly. We turned to Genesis chapter one, an excellent place to begin understanding both God's creation and His nature. The call to read together fosters a family dynamic centered on faith and inquiry, emphasizing the importance of exploring Scripture as a collective journey. I encourage you to discuss your findings about God and the universe based on this reading. This practice not only deepens your understanding but also cultivates meaningful conversations within your family.

Conclusion

In closing, today’s discussions centered on fundamental truths about God: His timelessness and His profound care for each of us. By understanding that God is eternal and always present in our lives, we grasp the assurance that He acts in love and desires connection with us. As we continue to seek answers through questions and Scripture, remember that God welcomes our inquiries and is eager to guide us as we navigate our faith together. Keep exploring, stay curious, and allow these truths to transform the way you live.
