Introduction

Today, we pause our systematic study through Galatians to delve into a pressing message that I believe is timely and relevant for our current national context, especially as we navigate an upcoming election. The Lord has placed on my heart three godly attributes that He desires from all believers. Our focus will be on how we are called to exemplify these attributes as Christians, serving as salt and light in a world rife with challenges and compromise. The essence of our exploration will be grounded in Scripture, so let us examine these qualities through biblical stories that illustrate God’s expectations for our conduct.

Main Points

In Micah 6 6-8 God Poses

In Micah 6:6-8, God poses a question to Israel, striking at the core of their weariness: what does He require of them? Here, it is crucial to recognize that God is not after mere ritualistic sacrifices; He longs for actions rooted in a sincere heart.

  • Justice, highlighted in this passage, refers to mishpat in Hebrew, meaning to do what is right and just.
  • This is not just a call for personal integrity; it extends to how we treat others.
  • As believers, we are challenged to act with worthiness and to pursue righteousness actively, regardless of the circumstances surrounding us.
  • Building on the call to justice, we shift our focus to the second attribute: mercy.

This Is Deeply Illustrated In The

This is deeply illustrated in the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. A lawyer seeks to challenge Jesus on the definition of a neighbor, only to be confronted with a narrative demonstrating compassion through the actions of one despised by society.

  • Here, mercy is framed not merely as an obligation but as a heartfelt response to the plight of others.
  • God desires us to embody a love for mercy, which entails actively seeking opportunities to demonstrate kindness and compassion rather than purely adhering to the law.
  • This is a call to look beyond societal divides and prejudices and to let love lead our actions toward those in need.
  • Finally, we come to the exhortation to walk humbly with our God.

Humility Is A Vital Trait That

Humility is a vital trait that connects us with the heart of God. As we reflect on James 4:6, we understand that God gives grace to the humble. It is through our walk with Him that we cultivate a spirit of humility. The closer we draw to God, the more we recognize our own faults and the vastness of His grace. True humility leads us to acknowledge our responsibility not only to God but also to our community. As we embody these attributes of justice, love, and humility, we become beacons of truth, exemplifying the transformative power of the gospel in our lives.

In The Context Of Our Nation’s

In the context of our nation’s crossroads, it is crucial that we embrace the call to be salt and light. This metaphor illustrates our role as preservers of goodness and truth in society. Salt enhances flavor and prevents decay; likewise, we are called to counteract moral decline by living out our faith authentically. Light illuminates darkness, revealing truth and pointing others to Christ. Our choices, particularly in exercising our civic duties like voting, reflect our commitment to upholding values aligned with God’s will. Integrating this into our lives means being intentional about our influence in the sphere where we operate.

As We Engage In God’s Work

As we engage in God’s work within our community and nation, we must remain vigilant, remembering that our actions reflect our faith. The statistic that 85 million Christians may abstain from voting is alarming, showcasing a disconnect in living out our faith in practical ways. We have a responsibility to act for the common good, ensuring that our voices contribute to the moral fabric of our society. This requires commitment beyond attendance at services; it necessitates active participation in the mission God has called us to, exemplified through voting and standing for truth in challenging times.

Conclusion

In conclusion, as we navigate these critical moments in our nation, let us carry forth the call to embody justice, mercy, and humility in our daily lives. We are entrusted with the mission to shine brightly as we engage in our communities, reflecting the love of Christ. I urge each of you to take these godly attributes to heart, making them a part of your ongoing walk with God, and to be active participants in shaping the world around you. As we conclude today, remember: God desires our hearts more than our rituals. Let us be willing to act, love, and walk humbly, for His glory and the advancement of His kingdom.
