Embracing New Seasons: Trusting God's Preparation and Commissioning

Series: Calvary Boise Embracing New Seasons in Faith Transformational Discipleship Navigating Life's Changes with God The Power of Commissioning God's Restoration Journey Witnessing Through Transitions Teacher: Pastor Tucker Maile's

Introduction

Last week's message titled "New Season, Same Lord" discussed our church's transition and reflected on Acts chapter 1, where the disciples underwent a significant change from following Jesus to being commissioned to spread His message. As we considered this pivotal moment, we learned that changes in seasons are not only for the church community but also intersect with individual lives across the world. In examining God’s action during these transitions, we sought answers to how we can navigate new seasons and what our proper response should be.

Main Points

As We Embrace New Seasons It’s

As we embrace new seasons, it’s crucial to recognize that God is in the preparation phase. Acts 1:1-3 begins with Luke reminding us how Jesus initiated His work, laying down a strong foundation before He ascended to heaven.

  • The preparation involves a significant period where the disciples learn and grow, a 40-day span where Jesus teaches them about the Kingdom of God.
  • He is faithful to prepare them for a mission that is much larger than anything they have previously encountered.
  • This preparation is not arbitrary; it involves the details of our lives.
  • Ephesians 2:10 affirms that we are God’s workmanship, created for good works prepared in advance.

Each Of Us Is Being Molded

Each of us is being molded and shaped through our experiences , both successes and failures , to serve His purposes in specific seasons and settings. For some, this may mean stepping into roles we feel unprepared for, but we can trust that God is working behind the scenes.

  • As we enter a new season, we also witness God's restoration work taking place.
  • The promise in Acts 1:8 states that we shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, enabling us to be witnesses for Christ.
  • This restoration is not just about personal healing; rather, it transforms us into agents of restoration within our communities.
  • God’s love restores our individual lives so that we may extend that same grace and healing power to others.

The Narrative Throughout Scripture Shows Us

The narrative throughout Scripture shows us that God uses restored individuals as instruments of His reconciliation. Every testimony of transformation can inspire hope in those who have yet to experience His grace. God takes our brokenness and crafts a beautiful story of restoration that we can share. The transformation from being lost to found opens up a whole new realm of possibilities as we embrace our purpose in His Kingdom. With every new season comes a new commission from God. Just as He commissioned the disciples to carry the gospel beyond the nation of Israel, we too are called to share the message of Christ in our respective spheres of influence.

The Essence Of This Commissioning Is

The essence of this commissioning is underscored by the empowerment from the Holy Spirit, which enables us to be effective witnesses. As we navigate different stages of life, whether that’s moving to a new job, shifting neighborhoods, or entering into different social circles, we carry the mandate to live out our faith meaningfully. Each transition can serve as an opportunity for us to model the restorative work of God. Our unique experiences equip us to reach those around us, like a sailor sharing God’s grace aboard a vessel or a parent demonstrating God’s love at home.

Conclusion

In summary, as we enter this new season, we must recognize the preparation God has been cultivating in our lives, the restoration He offers to each of us, and the commission we are given to share that message. Each of us can contribute to the Kingdom’s work, empowering one another in love, and reaching out to those who are still searching. Remember, every new season has a purpose, and through God's sovereignty, nothing in our lives is wasted. Let us embrace these new works with the profound confidence that God is at work, moving us further into His mission.
